Rom 3:28 QUESTION from Susan October 17, 2001 Dear Brother,
Thank you so much for answering to my previous mail. It has been a great help to me. However, I do have further queries.
Concerning Rom3:28, You said that Luther messed up that verse by putting alone after faith. I referred to 5 Catholic Bibles and 4 of them mentions on faith alone, but in their own words.
My question is: Why does our Catholic Bible have Luther's messed up work?
Now I am confused on which Bible to read because the Bible I read concerning this verse gave me two different pictures.
Please help.

What Bibles are these that you are referring to? And are you sure that the actual word alone is in the text?
There are no Cahtolic or Protestant bibles that I have ever seen that include the actual word alone in Rom 3:28.
Luther added that word in his German translation, but it does not appear anywhere else that I am aware of.
Not even the King James version uses the word alone in the text. The King James Version says: Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law..
