We don't have all the answers to that. But basically, God allows Free Will. If He didn't allow Free Will then we would be mere animals or robots. God loves us so much that He made us in His image. That image includes the God-like attribute of knowing good from evil. Thus in God's love He allows us Free Choice.
Think about it! How would you feel if your girlfriend loved you because she had no choice? That is not really love. You want your girlfriend to love you because she has chosen to love you. Well, without free will she couldn't choose you or anyone.
God also wants us to love Him because we want to.... He is not going to force us to love him. But to give us Free Will means that we must be given complete free will. To be given a little-bit of free will is not possible. That is like being a little pregnant -- either you are or you are not, there is no in-between. Same with Free Will.
Thus when people have free will, some people will choose wrongly. Sometimes their choices hurt others. Sometimes people's choices allow demons to do their thing. Most demonic activity comes from the demons being allowed to do what they do because someone has chosen to allow them to do it to themselves or to others.
In the end, through this evil and sin, we can come to know the glory and greatness of our God. When compared to evil, God shines even brighter. Hopefully we will fly to the Light.
