Reiki & Catholic Hospitals QUESTION from Lorraine September 20, 2001 This is not a question.
However, I am referring to my question posted on April 22 and answered on July 10th.(I am just reading your answer to my question because it wasn't answered until July 10th due to your unavailability at the time.) I'm glad to see that an answer got posted.
What concerns me in your answer is this: If a Catholic Hospital is doing something it should not, contact the Bishop...(The Bishop has authority to strip the hospital of its Catholic name.)
I wrote to the Bishop and was angry with his reply per his representative. He has no intentions of removing Reiki practices in several of our catholic hospitals. I was taken back by his answer. I have also contacted one of the hospitals and have been told that they will not remove Reiki. The hospital personnel told me that patients are asking for it which is why they are offering it.(I really don't think people know what they are getting into.)
I just had to express my disappointment about a bishop not informing his people of such practices. I was told by his representative that they were not going to focus on educating catholics.

I am sorry to hear this, but I am not surprised.
I would suggest three possible actions:
Begin a petition and letter writing campaign throughout your entire diocese to be sent to your bishop, with a copy to the offending hospitals. This petition should demand the cesation of the use of Reiki as contary to Catholic propriety and if not ceased that patronage to the hospital will be ceased.

Write a Letter to the Sacred Congregation on the Doctrine of the Faith concerning the questionable practice of using Reiki in Catholic Hospitals; and the Congregation of Bishops concerning the bishop doing nothing about it. Here are the addresses:

Finally, and most importantly -- PRAY. You may also wish to start a prayer circle to pray continually about this problem, and a pray campaign, like with the petition, seeks people all over to pray abuot this issue.
If you don't feel called to be an activist on this issue then commit the issue to God and keep it on your daily prayer list.
