Angel forms QUESTION from Jacob on May 31, 2002 Dear Brother,
I have a rather strange question. I watch the television show Charmed, I am a Catholic and know everything in the show is fictional. Is it still a sin to watch it even if it has no influence on me? Also angelic creatures called white lighters feature on the show. I thought that they must have been an idea made up by the writers but I have recently come accross books that talk of the White Lighters in the Catholic religion. Have you ever heard of these creatures? I think they may be what are commonly know as the Guardian angels That is they watch over us and protect us from sin. What do you think?

I would advise you to NOT watch the TV show Charmed. It does have an effect on you whether you know it or not. ALL things have an effect. The question is what kind of effect.
St. Paul and the Church warn us to guard our senses. The reason for this is that we ARE effected by those things around us. In addition, Satan can manipulate our imaginations. If we put improper images and idea into our brain, it can be used against us by the sin nature of our flesh and by the devil.
I myself got involved in the occult. The begining of that downward spiral was my liking and watching the very benign TV show, Bewitched. Charmed is NOT as innocent as Bewitched.
I also know a man who began an interest in the occult through watching the show Bewitched and later became a High Priest in a Satanic Coven.
DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE the negative influence that these things can be in your life. AND don't think that what happened to me and to this High Satanic Priest cannot happen to you. NO ONE is immune.
When you play in Satan's sandbox you WILL get Satan's sand in your shoe -- and maybe worse.
As for White Lighters, this is an occult term (New Age term) referring to messengers who are protectors and guardians for witches.
You see, the TV Show has already influenced you by tempting you to think of evil as good. White Lighters are NOT of God. They are NOT the Guardian Angels that God sends to us.
Remember the admonition of Scripture:

2 Corinthians 11:13 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. 15 So it is not strange if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds.
